Control-panel, Chrysler-building, New York | 2004
Color photographs, Cibachrome silver prints mounted under Diasec
Colour
appears by necessity in the panel of an elevator in the Chrysler Building. This
light is about movement. In this panel, set in a beautiful guilloché
silver metal frame redolent of the charm of Art Deco industrial objects from
the early 1930s, the signs and numbers are displayed in red diodes, dependent
on the movement, up and down, between the 67 floors of the building. So the series
does not show the passage from one object to another in a chosen topology. This
work records the changes that occur in a single object in six different states
of its being.
