Filing cabinets for index cards, from the libraries of the National Assembly and that of the Vatican.
Human knowledge concentrated in parallelepiped blocks that front photographic capture reduces to the two dimensions of a very structured image. There is a mise en abyme of the principle of the series which characterizes the work of Philippe Gronon. In the age of the computer, this room is tinged with a certain old-fashioned charm. Here we come back to the emblematic object of conceptual art: potential creation concentrated and hoarded in a block of knowledge.
Along with the binders of Robert Morris, Stanley Brouwn, Art and Language, this series by Philippe Gronon, acquired by the Museum of Modern Art, was exhibited at the Pompidou Center in 2023.
